First Alert Forecast Mon Sept 16th Late Evening

First Alert Forecast: Mon., Sept. 16th - Late Evening

Tonight

A First Alert for heavy rain is in effect for areas south of the Turnpike from 9 PM through Midnight. Areas south of the Turnpike can expect widespread rainfall amounts between 1"-3" with locally higher amounts possible especially across interior Palm Beach Co. Counties include Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach. Isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds and frequent lightning will also be possible during this timeframe. A cold front will be stalled near our area tonight, allowing for moisture to stream in from the Gulf of Mexico. This front will eventually move through on Tuesday, which will stall out the storms tonight.

For areas north of the Turnpike, widespread rain amounts will be less with most areas seeing less than half an inch of rain. Some areas could see locally higher amounts, especially those that see thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and hail being the main threats.

Tuesday

The cold front will finally begin to push through South Florida on Tuesday. Showers and storms will continue through the day, especially during the morning and early afternoon hours. By the afternoon, most of the rain will shift offshore and conditions will begin to dry out. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s.

Tuesday Night

Conditions will begin to dry out by Tuesday night with skies becoming partly cloudy overnight. Lows will be in the mid-70s.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be a mostly sunny day with highs in the mid-80s. A few isolated showers will be possible during the afternoon, mainly inland.

Extended Forecast

The rest of the week will be mostly dry with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the mid-70s. The next chance for rain will be on Saturday as another cold front approaches.
