## Penn State Volleyball Knocks Off No. 9 Pittsburgh ### Nittany Lions win fifth straight match, improve to 5-1 in ACC play UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 10 Penn State women's volleyball team defeated No. 9 Pittsburgh in four sets (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18) on Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center. With the win, Penn State improves to 5-1 in ACC play and 11-3 overall. Pittsburgh falls to 5-2 in ACC play and 10-4 overall. The Nittany Lions were led by junior outside hitter Annie Cate Fitzpatrick, who had a team-high 17 kills. Senior outside hitter Kashauna Williams added 14 kills, and redshirt junior middle blocker Allie Holland had 11 kills. The Panthers were led by junior outside hitter Kayla Lund, who had a match-high 18 kills. Senior middle blocker Serena Gray added 10 kills, and freshman outside hitter Valeria Vazquez Gomez had nine kills. Penn State hit .243 for the match, while Pittsburgh hit .238. The Nittany Lions had a 10-5 advantage in blocks and a 59-46 advantage in digs. The first set was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team leading by more than three points. Penn State eventually took the set 25-23 on a kill by Fitzpatrick. The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the second set and never looked back. They eventually won the set 25-19 on a kill by Williams. Pittsburgh rallied to win the third set 25-22, but Penn State came back to win the fourth set 25-18 and clinch the match. The Nittany Lions will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Louisville to face the Cardinals. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET.
